ICPC was founded in 1970 and is recognized as the largest, highest-level and most participated programming competition for college students in the world. The competition consists of two main stages: regional contests in different continents and the global finals. Its aim is to showcase college students' innovation ability, teamwork spirit, and their ability to analyze and solve problems. It is known as the "Olympics" and "the most brain-burning competition" in the field of computer science. This competition has always been highly valued by renowned universities around the world and has attracted great attention from famous computer companies worldwide. The competition questions are described in English and cover a wide range of disciplinary knowledge, comprehensively testing students' algorithm design, logical reasoning, modeling derivation, programming and English reading abilities.
The Party and administrative leaders of the School of Computer Science attach great importance to talent cultivation and have standardized the management of discipline competitions. They encourage young teachers, expert professors and Party member teachers to deeply engage with students and lead them to actively and rationally participate in discipline competitions, with the aim of achieving the effect of promoting teaching and learning through competitions. The school established the Programming Competition Base in 2019. Under the guidance of Wang Jinyan and Huang Bin, the members of the base have made breakthroughs in winning awards in competitions such as ICPC, China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC), Team Programming Ladder Competition and Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition in recent years. Among them, the team composed of Lan Song, Qian Haodong and Shi Weifan won the third place in the Guangxi College Students Programming Competition (CCPC Guangxi Provincial Contest). We hope that the students of our school will continue to strive and achieve more outstanding results in various competitions!
